RANC Members:
We wanted to share information on two grant opportunities currently open through the NC Department of Environmental Quality that may be relevant to Recycling Association of NC members and others in your network.
The 2027 Recycling Business Development Grant (RBDG) provides up to $75,000, with a 50% cash match, for capital equipment and facility improvements that expand or improve recycling capacity and efficiency in North Carolina. This year, they are particularly interested in projects related to battery recycling, solar and electronics recycling, and MRF upgrades, although projects involving other recyclable materials are also eligible.
There is also a 2027 Food Waste Reduction Grant open. This program supports projects that expand food recovery and food waste diversion, with awards of up to $60,000 for priority projects and $40,000 for standard projects, with a 20% cash match.
Both grant opportunities are open now, with proposals due November 5, 2026, at 5:00 PM.
